:: IN A QUIET HOUSE IN HOVE - Director Gary Cove ::
This documentary tells the story of Hormuzd Rassam who was born in Mosul, Mesopotania, now Iraq. In the early years of the last century, he was sent by the British government to Ethiopia as royal envoy to King Theodore. While there he came across the King's collection of antiquities which he supplied to the British Museum. Hormuzd died in Hove; a forgotten man.

Do photographs contain memories which unfold in the mind when they are looked at? This unusual film reveals the people, places, thoughts and emotions that can be locked inside a simple snapshot.

:: BOB AND DIANA - Directors Joe Atkinson and Jenny Sadler ::
Bob is an 18 year-old dropout working as a hospital cleaner who discovers an unknown patient suffering from amnesia. Falling instantly in love, he tries to convince her they are lovers.

:: I MAKE MY PICTURES FOR WHAT HOLLYWOOD SPENDS ON LIPSTICK - Director Rochelle Vincente ::
While making a film about the life of her brother, the late Herbert Komar, the director discovered a letter from Maya Deren, avant-garde film-maker and cult figure. Its contents prompted the director to make this film exploring the events in Daren's life that led her to becoming a film-maker.

:: MUSIC FOR PIANO & PIER - Director Tim Brickell - 2 mins ::
A poignant film about Brighton's doomed West Pier originally shot on 16mm and Super 8 before the recent storms and fires that all but destroyed it. The director also composed the soundtrack which was recorded on a Steinway grand piano. The film has been shown at London's Soho Curzon and at several recent French film festivals.

:: COMPARED TO WHAT - Director Richard Harris - 18mins ::
An affectionate portrait of Lawrence Jones, leader of Brighton's premiere jazz combo, The Brighton Jazz All-Stars. Born in a Philadelphia ghetto, Jones is a multi-instrumentalist who studied music at America's famous Berklee College and has performed with the likes of Grover Washington and Chaka Khan. The film includes fascinating archive material plus action-packed footage of his memorable 3rd Anniversary gig at Brighton's Lion & Lobster filmed earlier this year.
