:: THE DARKSIDE - Director Shane Sheils - 4 mins ::
Heavily ironic horror flic set in a nameless, faceless city of the near future where knife-wielding zombie office workers prowl the deserted streets. Marking their territory with graffiti proclaiming 'all work and no play' these psychopaths lure their victims into abandoned buildings for a ghastly death. And then go home for a spot of Big Brother and an M&S 'lite-bite' frozen supper (only joking).

:: JOHNNY MAYBE & THE PORN STAR - Director Pat Garrett - 10 mins ::
Dreadful songs, dodgy performances, tone-deaf singing and a sexy female star feature in this genuinely bizarre Irish song 'n dance spectacular, produced in Hastings (!). With tongue firmly in cheek (well, we hope that's where it is), this story of unrequited love set in a luxurious country mansion will have you singing along and rolling in the aisles, probably at the same time. Our first musical!

:: COLD - Director Craig Emis - 10 mins ::
Poignant drama telling the story of young girl sleeping rough who survives by begging enough small change to get herself into a local nightclub and then going home with whoever she manages to pick up.

:: NAIVETY - Director Ben Craib - 8 mins ::
Sexual desire is the only certainty in this locally-made drama as a brief fling between two Brighton poseurs goes disastrously wrong. Great soundtrack.

:: MANIFEST - Director Stephen Glashier - 4 mins ::
Inspired by a heavy, bass-driven hip-hop track from Keno 1, Glashier creates an animated future world in which a very different kind of building construction takes place.

:: MAGICAL THINKING - Director/Choreographer - Chirstinn Whyte - 2 mins ::
Another original and technically superb dance ultra-short from London-based choreographer/director, Chirstinn Whyte and Brighton's own Jake Messenger.

:: DISCONNECTED - Director Jane McGee - 4 mins ::
Surreal, comic tale of low-budget living in which a young woman returns from grocery shopping to find her fridge magnets have fallen onto the kitchen floor and refuse to stick back on. While unpacking her bags, she discovers this is only the start of her problems.

:: 20/20 - Director Sasha Yevtushenko - 10 mins ::
A wry, well-made short filmed in 2004 that chronicles the adventures of two young Japanese tourists on a summer's day in London.

:: MR JOHN - Director Julian Kerridge - 10 mins ::
'Mr John' is an untidy agoraphobic who has lived in a Victorian mansion block for the past ten years. During this time, he has never left the building and survives by ordering life's necessities from the internet. Then one day he accidentally meets Carol - a neighbour from across the hallway - who decides to cook for him and do his shopping. She also loves talking about volcanoes…

:: THE CURSE OF JEFF - Director James Harris - 4 mins ::
In this seriously weird comedy, a New Age witch tells us about the secret art of 'cursing' and reveals how he has personally updated it for the 21st century.

:: PRELUDE - Director Joe Duffy - 4 mins ::
Experimental piece depicting the banal functioning of a car wash machine from the passenger's POV. An experience relating the teleogical aspect of society with the mimetic harnessing of nature in an act of simulation: the car wash as metaphorical journey through hyper-reality. The viewer is situated in the non-place of possible future, a void and thus an encounter with technology's relationship to the sublime (it says here).

:: KATHAK IN A POOL OF LIGHT - Director Rajyashree Ramamurthi - 2 mins ::
Another Indian-influenced dance ultra-short from the director of Traced (featured in our last-night screening event of the 2005 Brighton Festival).

:: LITTLE THINGS - Director James Twyford - 5 mins ::
During a trip to the supermarket, little Chloe sees a man shoplifting and asks her mum if she can 'shop like the man.' Distracted by the mobile phone conversation she is having, her mother agrees and only becomes aware of what has been going on when a Security Guard stops them at the check-out.

:: THE QUALITY OF MEMORY - Director James Browning - 10 mins ::
What does a person do when the bright lights of the big city lose their attraction? Some people return home, to safety and security, but nothing stays the same - especially people. After a long absence, three childhood friends meet up and find that they have moved on to a place where fond memories are the greatest illusion of all.

:: SUNNY ROAD - Director Ali Taylor - 3 mins ::
This whimsical piece from an award-winning film-maker combines conventional hand-drawing, photography and computerised 3D animation, to tell the story of Emiliana who lives alone in an isolated cabin with her eccentric cat. Missing a long-lost love, she decides send him a message in a bottle and is accompanied by a fox on her journey to the sea to post it. In return for his help, she helps the fox find his own love.
