:: BRIGHTON FRINGE FESTIVAL 2004 - third screening ::

:: PROGRAMME: Saturday, May 15th @ Joogleberry Playhouse, Manchester Street ::

Due to disgracefully bad weather, this screening was cancelled and re-scheduled for Thursday, August 26th

:: DUST - Director Anthony Atanasio - 8 mins - Choreographer Miriam King ::
This stunning, Butoh-influenced dance piece traces the solitary journey of a stranded, long distance swimmer within a waterless world. Searching for the sea of her dreams, her struggle eventually brings rain, regeneration and hope. Winner of the 1999 IMZ Dance Screen Award for Best Screen Choreography.

:: DESPERATELY SEEKING DAVE - Director Maxine Badger - 14 mins ::
A quirky and at times hilarious film from Brighton film-maker, Maxine Badger, in which she recounts her doomed efforts to make a documentary about a local drag artiste, Dave Lynn. This is Nick Broomfield with a sense of humour - and lots of rain.

:: SOCK - Director Sean Baldwin - 5 mins ::
One man's bizarre relationship with a troublesome sock leads him on a surreal journey to his local launderette.

:: THE 12.37 TO LITTLEHAMPTON - Director Lucy Ball - 4 mins ::
Rdiculously low budget commuter-nightmare tale from local animator, Lucy Ball. Using original music by Jim Robertson ('a friend of mine'), she proves that a good idea, well executed, is worth thousands (of pounds).

:: BEFORE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE - Martin Malone - 2 mins ::
Clever, funny ultra-short about rituals and superstition.

:: GOOD DEFINITION - Director Anneliese Holles- 5 mins ::
Based upon the poetry of Naomi Foyle, who commissioned the film, Annelise Holles' new film illustrates a poem focusing on the words cunt and cock . This is a challenging and visceral exploration of male and female sex/sexual experiences in all their poetic glory - with plenty of humour.

:: LOOTERS - Director Arun Kumar - 10 mins ::
Anna and Gibbo follow the trail of a small 'ad to the residence of Mr Sifter, an unassuming elderly gentleman who opens his heart and his home to the mischievious couple. Will the pair take more than they should?

:: SHOWTIME - Director Dan O'Neil - 7 mins ::
Steve 'Kirky' Kirkham is an amateur dancer: a sympathetic misfit, slightly neurotic and endearingly accident prone. In this hilarious film, we follow his attempts to succeed at his first audition for a place in the chorus line of a West End show. Choreographed by Steve Kirkham.

:: GATHER ROUND - Director Susanna Cole - 5 mins ::
Filmed with an older peoples dance group, this fast-paced short is based on their memories of the past - clothes, dancing, work and courting, as well as an often life-long relationship with homes and local community. The film manages to combine considerable humour with sensitivity towards its subjects and features a great soundtrack.

:: HORSEBOY GETS A GUN - Director Jane Couldrey - 5 mins ::
Wry, sly, slightly rude take on Hollywood westerns using a mixture of live-action and animation to tell the tale of Horseboy: half man, half beast. Full of romance and gun-play, this new version of the film has a re-mastered soundtrack of original songs from Brighton band, The Curst Sons. But, what ever happened to his gun?

:: MINOU - Director Magali Charrier - 6 mins ::
A wry and amusing exploration of the domestic life of a solitary young woman as seen through her romantic aspirations and quirky relationship with objects in her flat. Winner of 2002 IMZ Dance Screen Award for Best Screen Choreography.

:: SUSPICIONS - Director Alex Shaida - 13 mins ::
A taste of things to come! This dark tale of sexual jealousy and mistrust is a powerful new adult drama receiving it's first screening today, prior to Cannes.

::COLLECTORS OF WOOD STREET - Director Mark Windows - 13 mins::
In this specially re-edited version of a Final Cut classic, we visit Walthamstow's unique Collectors Centre, a bustling 70s indoor market, now declined to a point where it barely survives. Only a few traders and eccentrics remain in this almost forgotten part of East London. One of them (left) owns a record stall and his prodigious musical memory is able to come up with the song title and artist of any (vinyl) record - 45 or 33 rpm - merely by being given its catalogue number!

:: ALIAS (Directors Cut) - Director Mark Jay - 4 mins ::
Specially re-edited version of this 2003 MV from cult hip hop outfit, Border Crossing, containing previously unseen material. Featuring JEHST on MC duties, it was filmed in a West London boxing gym and has a distinctly Raging Bull feel with its burlesque card-girls and a gangsta contingent. It also features Chris Eubank’s twin brothers, Peter and Simon, as android boxers in a Robot Wars-style game played by band members.
