SPOTLIGHT
SOUTH EAST - Sunday, May 13th @ Po Na Na
The first of two festival screenings at Brighton's fashionable Po Na Na souk bar cast a spotlight on regional film-makers with this collection of new work that included several UK premieres plus brand-new Trailer Trash teasers for new and/or almost-completed films. The packed programme also showcased seven animated ultra-shorts produced by Final Cut for the UK Film Council's national Digital Shorts scheme.
FLOAT MY BOAT - Director Tracey Jane Sullivan - 4 mins
So girls, when it comes to men, is it bad shoes or simply a hairy back that swings the love meter from 'hot' to 'not' in a matter of seconds? In this lively music video, Miss T and her faithful backing singers try to find out by holding auditions for geezers with the ‘F Factor’ on Brighton’s beautiful beaches.
UK Premiere
HOTEL SURVIVAL WITH GEORGE EGG - Director George Egg - 5 mins
Survivalist, forager and self-taught cook/gourmet, George Egg, shows us how to avoid the over-priced and under-achieving room service menu in British hotels by cooking a delicious meal using his room’s iron, kettle, Gideon’s Bible (honest!) and whatever else he can find.
SUNBURN - Director Dave Arnold - 1 min
Hastings-based multi-media performance artist, Dave Arnold, gives a typically surreal performance on the subject of sunburn. Shot on VHS and transferred to DV, this unclassifiable ultra-short is bizarre in the extreme, yet strangely watchable. With the emphasis on ‘strange’.
ONE MINUTE WONDER - ANIMATION Seven new ultra-shorts
produced by Final Cut on behalf of Screen South and the UK Film Council with funding from Screen South, Arts Council South East and Awards For All. Big thanks to Lighthouse Arts & Training and Brighton TV for helping make this happen.

Well-made comedy drama about the stupidity of racism (and racists).
BEACH JAM - Directors Tula Parker & Anna Wetherston - 2 mins
Whacky music video filmed on Brighton beach, using a variety of model cars and an excellent music track to recreate the ‘sounds of summer’ in the form of cars, tailbacks and general traffic mayhem on coastal roads.
7 INGREDIENTS FOR MAKING A FJORD - Director Arnstein Dybvik - 13 mins
In this very funny comedy, an obsessively patriotic Norwegian is convinced that fjords are the reason for his country’s international success. To prove this, he embarks on a plan to build one in the land-locked country of Bosnia, so that they also can enjoy the beauty that is Norwegian Nature. The starting point for his plan is this delightful travelogue...
